Highly anticipated Netflix shows to look out for in 2024

The Night Agent season 2

Nobody could have imagined that the action-thriller series The Night Agent would have such an instant impact on the streamer when it debuted on Netflix on March 23. The show was renewed for a second season six days after it debuted to over 168 million viewing hours in its first four days on Netflix. That’s a record for a show on Netflix! The protagonist of the new show is Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso), a low-level FBI agent who works in the Night Action room in the White House. The course of both of their lives abruptly shifts when he takes a call from Rose Larkin (Luciane Buchanan), and they are entangled in a political plot that has a significant impact on both their private lives and the security of the country. Netflix said that the second season will be renewed in addition to having ten episodes that will air in 2024. However, that was before to the strikes. Although some viewers might feel that’s a long time to wait for season 2, the season still needs to be filmed and the creative team still needs to work on the concept for the new episodes. The first season of The Night Agent was eventually released in March 2023, having been filmed between February and June of 2022. We’re hopeful that production will start as soon as the strikes end, probably in early 2024, for a release in summer/fall 2024 or early 2025, as this series has become an established hit.

The Lincoln Lawyer season 3

It was certain that The Lincoln Lawyer will receive a second season renewal following its phenomenal premiere in May 2022. It was also obvious that The Lincoln Lawyer season 3 would be renewed after the similarly popular two-part premiere of the follow-up season in the summer of 2023. Mickey takes on another challenging case in season two of The Lincoln Lawyer, one that was rather personal to him. Micky starts dating Lisa (Lana Parrilla), a cook who is embroiled in a conflict with a developer on her block. She and Mickey’s love teeters on the brink of innocence when she is charged with his death and Mickey defends her in court. The Lincoln Lawyer season 3 is built up after the season closes on a massive cliffhanger. Once more, the season will be based on a Michael Connelly book and will follow Mickey as he becomes intimately embroiled in a murder investigation that is possibly more complicated than we realize. Investigating Glory Days’ murder might be one of Mickey’s most intimate cases to date on the show. Sadly, fans will have to wait a little longer this time around, even though Netflix swiftly renewed The Lincoln Lawyer for a third season following the premiere of season 2. It’s unlikely that any writing has been done on season 3 because of the strike. It is likely that production will start in 2024 and end in early or late 2025, depending on when the product is released.

Sweet Tooth season 3

Fans of the show anticipated they would have to wait much longer than the customary one-month tracking period for Netflix to reveal its fate after Sweet Tooth season 2 premiered on April 27, 2023. Surprisingly, we were all wrong, which was delightful. Less than a week after the release of season 2, Sweet Tooth season 3 was confirmed by Netflix on May 3. The revelation that Sweet Tooth season 3 will also be the last season of the popular fantasy series is both fantastic and bittersweet. The long gap between the first and second seasons was explained by Netflix when they revealed that the eight episodes of season 3 were covertly shot back-to-back with the eight episodes of season 2. Fortunately, there will be a satisfying conclusion to the series. Fans won’t have to wait as long for the last round of episodes because season 3 has already been filmed. The third and last season will premiere in 2024, the streaming service has confirmed. If post-production is delayed due to the writers’ strike, the release could take place in the spring or summer of 2024. Fans can at least relax knowing that Sweet Tooth isn’t canceled and will return the following year—let’s hope it’s much sooner than that.

Vikings: Valhalla season 3

Vikings: Valhalla, a Netflix original series, is a follow-up to the highly acclaimed historical drama Vikings on the History channel. It debuted in February 2022. Valhalla became another fan favorite and one of the greatest Netflix programs available at the moment, much like the parent series. Fortunately, the streamer approved 24 episodes total, which are divided into three seasons, when Netflix purchased the series back in 2019. Eight episodes made up the second season of Vikings: Valhalla, which debuted in January 2023. Eight more episodes remain in the original 24-episode sequence. Season two of Vikings: Valhalla was highly received by critics and viewers alike, which is strong evidence that the show should go on past its upcoming third season and possibly even branch out into new territory. After season 2 debuted, Netflix formally declared that season 3 of Vikings: Valhalla was in the works and even set a release date. The third season’s filming is already finished, but in 2024, eight more episodes will be added to our watch lists. The third season was being produced from May to October of 2022. Expect season 3 to launch in January or February, given that the previous two seasons debuted in the first two months of the year. There’s no reason to defy the custom of beginning the year with excitement and action, and season three of Vikings: Valhalla is unquestionably among the greatest Netflix productions of 2024. Anticipate more Harald, Freydis, and Leif!

Wednesday season 2

We all knew Wednesday was going to be a big sensation when it debuted in November 2022. As a type of reboot, it is first and foremost linked to the cherished Addams Family film universe. Possibly most significantly, the show features then-rising star Jenna Ortega, who rose to fame as a scream queen following her roles in Scream 5 and X. Wednesday was set up for success. Wednesday made a big splash after its Thanksgiving weekend debut, going on to become the second most watched Netflix series in the US, after Stranger Things season 4, and the third most watched Netflix show overall, behind Squid Game and Stranger Things season 4. The second season of Wednesday was renewed by Netflix in January 2023, following months of uncertainty and rumors of its cancellation. There has been a great deal of discussion on the show’s first season’s successes and failures ever since its successful premiere, which has resulted in sustained high viewership and numerous award nominations for Ortega. We’ve heard about Ortega’s challenging experience during the filming process and her dissatisfaction with Wednesday’s character development. However, she has also stated that she hopes season 2 would see a greater emphasis on the horror element, which makes perfect sense given how season 1 concluded. Sadly, there won’t be any more episodes released in 2023, so there will be a little wait before the second season. As of September 2023, filming has not started, and it is not expected to until after the strikes by the actors and authors are ended. The first season of Netflix was released approximately eight months after it was filmed, which took place between fall 2021 and spring 2022. We’ve projected a release for somewhere in the winter of 2024 or possibly early 2025 based on that timeline.

The Recruit season 2

Within the genre of action and crime thriller series, Netflix has had incredible success in the last 12 months. As a legal drama-thriller, The Lincoln Lawyer was a springtime hit, and as a political drama, The Night Agent created a huge splash the following spring. The espionage thriller The Recruit sits squarely in the center of both. As they all enter their second seasons, the trio is ideal. Netflix announced that The Recruit season 2 would premiere in 2024 in conjunction with the renewal. The next batch of episodes, which were scheduled to start filming in June 2023, still need to be filmed because that announcement was made before the writer’s and actors’ strikes. The first season of the show was filmed from October 2021 to March 2022, and it was released nine months later. We’ll have to wait and see how long the strikes last, but hopefully, filming can start as soon as writers and actors get a fair contract from the studios. Filming for The Recruit season two is anticipated to start in 2024 and be released in late 2024 or early 2025.

Emily in Paris season 4

A number of programs have been put on hold while the WGA and SAG-AFTRA continue to fight for fair accords as of September 2023. How much of Emily in Paris season 4 was completed prior to the writers’ strike that started in May is unknown. Filming should be able to start after the strikes are over if a sizable portion of the scripts have been completed. Emily will be coping with the several revelations made in the season 3 finale when we see her again in season 4. After Alfie abandoned her and a pregnant Camille abandoned Gabriel at the altar, Emily and Gabriel are left in the wreckage with little more than their mutual affections. For now, the next chapter should be available by the summer or fall of 2024, at the latest.

Outer Banks season 4

The world-traveling treasure quest from the first two seasons of Outer Banks returns in season three, with the stakes never higher. Once more, the Pogues fight against certain death, incarceration, and other terrifying circumstances in an attempt to defeat the villains and locate El Dorado. Even if not everyone survives OBX3, the season closes with a teaser for a brand-new (and undoubtedly risky) adventure in season 4. The Pogues will next be going in search of Blackbeard’s riches. By the summer of 2023, as filming for Outer Banks season 4 was beginning, a firm schedule was beginning to take shape. The season’s release date has been considerably pushed back because filming won’t resume until the strikes are over. Season 4’s debut would most likely occur in the winter of 2024, while it could still happen in 2024 or it could be pushed to 2025.
